The short version
This is the simple version. There's a longer one below with all the details.
What is Vision?
Vision is an app your school has invited you to use. It helps you set goals, track progress, and talk things through with an AI coach.
What do we collect?
Just your name to get started. Everything else (your goals, interests, what you're working on) is up to you to share if you want to.
What happens when you talk to Vision?
Your conversations are processed by an AI system so Vision can reply and remember useful things about you, like your goals and what you've committed to. This is what lets Vision coach you over time instead of forgetting everything each time you open the app.
Who can see what you write?
- Your conversations, your journal, and your private notes: only you. Not your teacher, not your mentor, not anyone at your school.
- Your goals, your progress, and your next steps: your assigned mentor at school can see these, so they can support you.
- If you ever say something that suggests you or someone else might be in danger or at real risk of harm, a specific, narrow check notices this and lets your school's safeguarding lead and your mentor know, so a real person can check in with you. This exists to help keep you safe. It doesn't fire on ordinary bad days or normal difficult feelings.
Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold about you, ask us to fix anything that's wrong, or ask us to delete your account. Contact us via your school.
The full version
1. Who we are
Vision by Elevate Series ("Vision", "we", "us") is a personal development coaching platform for students, made available to you through your school or college.
2. What data we collect
- Account/profile data: full name (required to create an account), email address, password (stored encrypted). Optionally, if you choose to add them: age range, stated goals, interests, strengths, areas for development, current challenges, career interests, development priorities, and a personal "vision statement."
- Goals and next steps: goals you set, your progress on them, and commitments you make, including ones that come up in conversation with Vision.
- Conversations with Vision: the messages you send and Vision's replies.
- Memory notes: short notes Vision keeps to coach you better over time, generated from your conversations.
- Journal entries: reflections you write yourself, or drafts Vision offers after a conversation that you choose to keep. Nothing is saved to your journal without you actively keeping it.
- Mastery framework evidence: short notes evidencing progress against Vision's personal-development framework, generated from conversations, used only to track your category and level progress. The underlying conversation content behind this is never shown to school staff.
- Safeguarding records: if the system detects specific language suggesting a real risk of serious harm, a record is created and defined information is shared with your school's safeguarding lead and your assigned staff mentor. See Section 6.
We deliberately do not collect your address, phone number, financial information, or precise location.
3. Why we process this data
Your school has authorised you to use Vision as part of its personal development offer. Your school is the data controller for your account, and Elevate Series processes your data on your school's instructions. We have also completed a Data Protection Impact Assessment for this processing, reflecting the extra care Vision takes given it's used by school-age students and involves AI-assisted conversations, available to your school and their Data Protection Officer on request.
4. Who else can see your data
- Your assigned staff mentor can see: your goals, your progress and next steps, your Mastery framework levels, and any safeguarding flags raised about you. They cannot see your conversations with Vision, your journal entries, or your memory notes, under any circumstances.
- Vision itself processes your conversations using AI technology delivered via our infrastructure providers, which is necessary for Vision to reply to you and remember relevant context between conversations. This processing is covered by data processing arrangements between Elevate Series and its providers.
- Nobody else. No other student, no other school, and no advertisers have any access to your data.
5. How long we keep your data
We keep your data for as long as your account is active, and for as long as necessary afterwards to meet safeguarding record-keeping requirements. If you'd like more detail on retention for a specific type of data, contact us via your school.
6. Safeguarding: how this actually works
Vision has two layers of safety response:
- For general wellbeing topics (stress, low mood, everyday worries), Vision responds supportively within the conversation itself. This creates no record visible to anyone else.
- If a conversation contains an explicit, specific indication of self-harm, suicidal thoughts, abuse disclosure, or immediate danger, a narrow, purpose-built check flags this specifically. When it fires, your school's safeguarding lead and your assigned mentor are notified, so a real adult can check you're safe. It is deliberately narrow. It does not fire on ordinary difficult feelings or a bad day, and normal conversations are never read by staff as a result of this system.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you (or, depending on your age and your school's policy, your parent or guardian) have the right to:
- Ask what data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct anything that's inaccurate
- Ask us to delete your account and data, subject to the safeguarding record-keeping point in Section 5
- Object to certain kinds of processing
- Raise a concern with your school in the first instance, or with the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact us via your school.
8. Changes to this notice
We will update this notice if what we do with your data changes materially, and will let your school know when we do.
